Yu-Charn Chen

Associate Professor

Currently teaching AutoCAD, Research and Development Lab and the electronics courses in the DAI Department at San Francisco State University. He has presented 17 professional papers at 8 different international conferences in the past 7 years. He was an Academic Senator at SFSU for 6 years. Currently he is working on a Online Wireless Learning Solutions (OWLS), a US Department of Education research project. In the past 7 years he has served as a member of Curriculum Review and Approval Committee (CRAC); General Education Committee (GEC); Teaching Credential Committee (TCC); Academic Affirmative Action Committee (AAAC); Faculty Merit Increase (FMI) Appeal Committee; and many other university-wide committees.

2000 - Design Engineer at an Advance (Semiconductor) Technology Center in San Jose. Earned a certificate of IC packaging design and submitted 3 patent applications on the IC packaging and fabrication process while serving as a consultant at an IC packaging design company.

1988 - received his Doctorate in Industrial Technology from University of Northern Iowa. Dissertation topic: "The System Design and Evaluation of a Microprocessor Controlled Dispenser using a Radar Ground-speed Sensor"

1986-87 - Design Engineer at a Control Systems Inc. in Iowa and CAD

1981-83 - Electrical Communication Officer in the Chinese Air Force

1980 - began teaching electrical engineering, electronics engineering, electrical material science, electrical drafting, and electrical technology programs.
